Getting started with Finley
Finley brings client records, supporting documents and advice work into one place. This guide explains where to start and how the main workspaces fit together.
Before you start
Sign in with your own approved account. The clients and controls you can access depend on your role and practice.
For training, use a test client containing fictional information. Check that you are in the intended environment before making changes.
1. Find or create the client
Open Clients and search for an existing record before creating another one. Open the client and check the name, partner and adviser. Client Details and Fact Find hold the information used in later work, so correct material gaps before relying on it.
2. Choose the workspace for the job
Use the client record for structured details, objectives, assets, liabilities and other financial records. Open Finley for questions and written work. Use Statement of Advice, Projections or Insurance Workspace for those specialist scenarios. Start an SOA from the client’s Statement of Advice section, rather than assuming every chat shortcut opens the same builder.
3. Choose the evidence
Before asking Finley to work, check the selected client and the documents and ProductRex research scenarios included in the conversation. A file being stored against the client does not necessarily mean it is selected for the current task. Use current source material and identify older documents that are only background.
4. Review and save the result
Check names, ownership, dates, amounts and the purpose of the output. Use the save control for that workspace and watch for errors. A document draft, a saved Word file and an updated client record are different outcomes. Confirm the outcome you need before closing the workspace.
5. Return to the work later
Reopen the relevant conversation, saved document or client scenario. Check that your latest changes are present. If the interface differs from these instructions, use the controls actually available and ask your practice administrator or support team to confirm the applicable workflow.
Check before you finish
The correct client and partner are selected.
The evidence and draft are current, and the intended save completed.
Advice documents receive the adviser’s normal review before they are issued.
If something does not work
If a client is unavailable or a save is read-only, check your role and practice access with an authorised administrator.
If Finley cannot read a document, check its processing status and provide a readable source rather than assuming the upload succeeded.
